Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This 8-hour training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.

The course will teach you how to apply the ALGEE action plan:

  • Assess for risk of suicide or harm

  • Listen non-judgmentally

  • Give reassurance and information

  • Encourage appropriate professional help

  • Encourage self-help and other support strategies

Join us this camp meeting on Tuesday, July 2 and Wednesday, July 3 from 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The course will be taught by our relationship ministries director Dr. David Defoe, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor.  We have spread out the training over two days to make the 8 hour classroom time more manageable.
Training is limited to the first 30 individuals, so sign up today!
