Cedars Church Hosts Juneteenth Community Cook-Out

On Thursday, June 19th, the Cedars of Lebanon church in Chesapeake, VA hosted a Juneteenth Community Cook-Out Celebration. Cedar’s personal ministries leader, Constance D. Yancey, has spearheaded this event for the last three years. Members shared the rich traditions and customs that are celebrated in the African-American culture, and various vendors offered community resources and provided healthcare awareness. Attendees also enjoyed arts and crafts, music, fellowship, food, and fun. Buffalo Soldiers Bicycle Club of Virginia, the local fire department, and community churches also showed up and lended their support.
“We. thank all who volunteered their time to making this event a success,” says David Thorpe, pastor.
