CJC 2026 Convention Explores Religious Freedom and Democracy

The Conscience & Justice Council (CJC) recently convened its 2026 Convention in King of Prussia, PA, under the theme, “Religious Freedom and Democracy: Fractured, Fragile, or Firm?” The gathering brought together faith leaders, attorneys, scholars, pastors, community advocates, and other professionals for thoughtful conversations examining the intersection of faith, justice, religious liberty, and civic life.

The program featured plenary sessions, keynote presentations, worship experiences, and specialized breakout tracks addressing a wide range of contemporary issues. Topics included religious liberty, democracy, racial justice, restorative justice, the relationship between Adventism and the American republic, LGBTQ community concerns, election issues affecting millennials, artificial intelligence, Christian nationalism, and faith-based community organizing.

Among the featured presenters were representatives from Washington Adventist University, Loma Linda University, Wake Forest University, Andrews University, the North American Division, the League of Women Voters, and other organizations. The convention also included opportunities for networking, community engagement, and the sharing of best practices.

Through its combination of scholarship, dialogue, worship, and practical engagement, the CJC 2026 Convention provided participants with opportunities to reflect on the role of people of faith in strengthening religious freedom, justice, and democratic communities.
