Hillside Church Hosts Deliverance: Rooted in Wellness Weekend

Dr. Anthony Medley, AEC Health Ministries Director, led a “Deliverance: Rooted in Wellness” weekend at Hillside Church in Harrisburg, PA.

On Sabbath, during the worship service, Medley preached the theme of Deliverance through the question Jesus asked the man at the pool of Bethesda, “Do you want to be made well? Do you really want deliverance from your sickness?

Sabbath afternoon, the church participated in a screening of PBS/NOVA film, “Critical Condition: Health In Black America,” The film addressed the systemic racial implicit biases against healthcare deliverables for Black/Brown people in the United States.

On Sunday there was a self-defense and self-protection seminar for women and girls. This 4-hour session addressed the End-it-Now human trafficking and exploitation of women and girls.

The entire weekend presented a new paradigm for wholistic health;

The spiritual component was the worship service.

The intellectual and mental component was the afternoon film, robust conversation, and actionable items for the church to more fully engage with community wellness initiatives.
