Listening Day is May 16th

College Park, MD — The global listening community is warmly invited to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of "I Love to Listen Day" on May 16, 2025, with this year’s inspiring theme: “A Listening Garden Party – We Are Growing Listeners.”

As a valued leader in cultivating a spiritual listening community, the Allegheny East Conference is invited to participate in this milestone event, which will be hosted at the University of Maryland’s Listening Garden and joined by the Bow Valley Ranch Canadian Listening Garden and the International Listening Association—united in the mission of nurturing a world that listens deeply and intentionally.

Founder Marva Shand-McIntosh reminds us, “This is not a day of silence. It is the perfect time to listen.”

Participants across the globe are encouraged to:

  • Host their own Listening Garden Party

  • Share the "Listening Poem"

  • Write and display a Listening Proclamation

“I Love to Listen Day” is the premiere international listening day and a unique opportunity to amplify the power of listening in spiritual, personal, professional, and public life. For 20 years, this initiative has grown a vibrant network of listeners and changemakers who understand that listening is not passive—it is powerful.

We invite AEC members and affiliates to join this joyful global celebration and help us continue planting the seeds of meaningful dialogue.

Let’s grow a world that listens—together.
