Salem Haitian Will host A Day of Worship and Wellness
Salem Haitian Seventh-day Adventist Church will host A Day of Worship & Wellness on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 10 S. Oraton Parkway in East Orange, New Jersey. The free event is open to everyone, with a special invitation extended to individuals and families throughout East Orange and the greater North Jersey community.
Presented by the Salem Health Ministry, the day is designed to bring together spiritual encouragement, health education, professional guidance, and practical resources that can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
The morning will begin with Sabbath School at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Worship Service at 11:00 a.m. The guest speaker will be Elder Adlin Noel, PA, a physician assistant who brings both a ministry perspective and professional healthcare experience to the day’s message.
The afternoon will continue with a free Community Health Fair from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., led in partnership with Rutgers University. This portion of the event will give attendees an opportunity to speak with health professionals, receive helpful information, ask questions, and connect with services that may otherwise be difficult to access.
Free health booths will address several important areas, including:
Smoking, vaping, and lung cancer awareness
Dental care
Nutrition guidance for individuals living with diabetes
Primary care
Psychiatric consultation
Health insurance assistance for individuals and families with low or no income
The event is being coordinated under the leadership of Sister Lamercie Brasier, NP, APN, Salem’s director of Health Ministry. As a nurse practitioner and advanced practice nurse, Sister Brasier brings professional healthcare knowledge to the ministry’s efforts to serve the public with compassion, education, and practical support.
For Salem, health ministry is about more than hosting a single event. It reflects the church’s belief in caring for the whole person, including the spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional needs of individuals and families. Through this initiative, the church hopes to help people better understand their health, identify available resources, and feel supported by a faith community that is committed to serving beyond its walls.
The afternoon health fair is especially important because many people in the surrounding community face barriers to receiving consistent medical care, reliable health information, insurance guidance, and mental-health support. By bringing these services together in one welcoming location, Salem hopes to make care and information more approachable and accessible.
The goal is not only to educate, but to build lasting connections with the community and demonstrate ministry through service. Salem’s Health Ministry seeks to meet people where they are, listen to their concerns, and help connect them with resources that can improve their overall well-being.
All are welcome, regardless of church membership, faith background, income, or insurance status. Individuals, families, seniors, young adults, and children from East Orange and across North Jersey are encouraged to attend this free day of worship, wellness, fellowship, and community care.
