HBH Haitian Women’s Ministries Celebrate the Second Sabbath of the Month of Esther

The HBH Haitian Women’s Ministries in the Maryland District joyfully celebrated the second Sabbath of the Month of Esther on Saturday, March 14, 2026. “HBH Women in Mission: Rise Up in This Time.”

Throughout the week, Pastor Jacqueline Émile, Senior Pastor of Bathurst French Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada, delivered powerful messages highlighting the lives of remarkable women in the Bible. She emphasized their vital roles and responsibilities within the church, uplifting and inspiring all who attended. Her ministry elevated the spiritual experience of the congregation, leaving many deeply blessed. We continue with our second week emphasis on HBH youth and young adults with our dynamic pastor Telaine Buisson-Fleurmond.

On Sabbath, March 14, HBH Haitian Women across the district, from Hagerstown to Bethany and Horeb continued the celebration in a vibrant display of unity, adorned in pink, white, blue, and purple. At Horeb, Pastor Tabuanka Jean, affectionately known as Pastor T, delivered a compelling sermon emphasizing women’s leadership under the theme “Rise to Lead." We honored God for two special women who serve as prayer warriors in our church Head Deaconess Mirlande Gouin and our HBH Prayer Coordinator Deaconess Lurene Joseph. The church publicly acknowledged their hardwork and contributions made in our district.

At Bethany, Deaconess Elmita Pericles-Talabert led a powerful spiritual emphasis on prayer and deliverance, reminding the congregation that “God always listens to the cry of a praying woman.” Her message elevated the spiritual atmosphere and deeply impacted the sisters of the church. In a spirit of appreciation, the brothers of Bethany graciously served the women during fellowship, creating a warm and honoring environment.

In Hagerstown, the Hagerstown Haitian Women’s Choir presented their first special musical selection, marking a significant milestone. Sister Marie Evelyne Delphin, a key praise team leader, delivered a powerful sermon that uplifted the congregation. Known for both her musical and evangelistic gifts, she led the church into a profound worship experience.

Indeed, the Lord has richly blessed the district through the ministry of its women. Elder Arnel Nerette, First Elder of Bethany, reflected on the impact of the revival, stating: "This spiritual awakening led by the women of our district has opened our eyes to the many talented and gifted women among us. We have truly discovered their strength and leadership.” He further affirmed the importance of embracing God’s design for shared leadership, encouraging continued support for women in ministry.

During the Month of Esther, women across the HBH-MARYLAND district from the 5 states: Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and DC, lead all aspects of Sabbath worship, from Sabbath School to the Divine Service, allowing women of all ages to actively participate. The congregation has expressed great appreciation, testifying to the exceptional skills, dedication, and spiritual leadership demonstrated by the women.

To conclude this memorable day, the celebration continued into the evening with a joyful social and recreational event. The Fundraising Department, in collaboration with the HBH Women’s Ministries, organized a lively cook-off titled Battle of the Brothers. This friendly competition showcased the culinary talents of the men in the district, bringing laughter, fellowship, and excitement to all in attendance.

The evening was filled with joy, unity, and heartfelt appreciation. The sisters expressed deep gratitude, leaving the event with lasting memories, feeling truly loved, valued, and celebrated.
