AEC Educators Prepare for a Successful School Year






On Wednesday, August 13th, 2025, approximately 40 educators came together for the annual AEC Office of Education Teachers' In-Service.The in-service was held at the Dupont Park Adventist School in Washington, D.C.
The educators learned valuable information and received tools to help them grow and be successful in their role of principal and teacher for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year.
The day started with a powerful, stirring devotional message from Dr. Renee Humphreys, Associate Superintendent.There were a total of six new educators who were introduced to the team of educators.They each shared a brief bio of how they came to the Allegheny East Conference. They were welcomed by all.
Dr. John Alberty, Superintendent of Schools, challenged the educators to be all they can be and offered instruction and advice on how to accomplish this in the areas of deliverables and follow-through.
The other presenters for the day included Teresa Best, Human Resources Director; Dr. Gloria Perry, Associate Superintendent;Dr. Lakeisha Dickerson; and Dr. LaRhonda Howell.There was one guest presenter, Elandya Howell.
The following day, educators gathered at Spencerville Academy for a professional development seminar focused on effective assessment practices.The session was led by nationally recognized consultant Rick Wormeli, who is known for his expertise in grading, differentiation, and instructional strategies.Throughout the seminar, participants engaged in interactive discussions and explored practical approaches to assessing student learning in ways that are both fair and meaningful.Teachers left the session inspired and equipped with new tools to enhance their classroom practices and better support student success.
