AEC Members Volunteer at Messages of Hope International Ministries’ Two-Day Pop-Up Health Clinic

On August 9–10, 2025, the doors of the Ruth M. Kirk Community Center in West Baltimore opened to welcome nearly 200 neighbors for a two-day “Pop-Up” Health Clinic. The event was made possible through the partnership of Messages of Hope International Ministries (MOHIM), the Ruth M. Kirk Community Center, Mission Minded Free Clinics (MMFC), Better Vision/Better Hope (BVBH), and Berea Temple Church.
More than 40 dedicated volunteers—including dentists, dental hygienists, ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses, and community support staff—joined forces to deliver free, high-quality care. Services included:
Dental Care: exams, cleanings, cavity treatments, fillings, and simple extractions.
Vision Care: eye exams, pressure checks, vision refraction, and even free eyeglasses with prescription lenses.
By the end of the weekend, 196 individuals received treatment, with 70% benefiting from dental services and 30% from vision care. Beyond immediate health needs, the clinic also uncovered areas where ongoing support is vital:
17% expressed interest in lifestyle coaching
11% requested cooking classes
10% asked for Bible studies
10% sought help with blood pressure management
7% wanted support with diabetes control and reversal
This clinic not only met pressing health concerns but also highlighted the community’s desire for holistic wellness—physically, mentally, and spiritually.
An After Action Review (AAR) is scheduled for Monday, August 18 at 8:00 PM to assess outcomes and plan future initiatives. Encouraged by the overwhelming response, many in the community are already asking for a follow-up clinic within the next 6–9 months.
Together, these partnerships show that when faith, service, and compassion meet, hope and healing flourish.
