AEC Employees Gather for “AEC Thrive: From Maintenance to Mission”

The Allegheny East Conference (AEC) recently brought together its pastors for a three-day gathering centered on the theme “AEC Thrive: From Maintenance to Mission.” Held October 5–7, 2026, the employees meeting provided an opportunity for spiritual renewal, professional development, collaboration, and recognition.

Each day opened with devotion, featuring messages from Pastor Felix Amparo, Dr. Leslie Pollard, and Pastor Darnisha Thomas. The spiritual emphasis helped set the tone for conversations focused on strengthening ministry and advancing the mission of the Conference.

A significant portion of the meeting focused on discipleship, with Dr. Michael Lewis leading sessions designed to encourage deeper engagement with the church’s mission and the development of effective discipleship practices. Department directors also provided updates on their areas of ministry, while new pastors were introduced to the Conference team.

The gathering addressed several important contemporary and organizational issues. A panel featuring Dr. Leslie Pollard, Dr. Jaime Kowlessar, and Dr. Keenan Tyler explored the church and racial justice, providing an opportunity for discussion and reflection. Other sessions addressed presidential matters, evangelism, pastoral finances, human resources, administration, and departmental initiatives.

The meeting also included a special focus on employees. On the final day, AEC recognized retirees and employees for their years of service, celebrating the dedication and contributions of those who have faithfully served the Conference. The program concluded with a Treasury presentation concerning an insurance change.

Through worship, learning, dialogue, departmental collaboration, and recognition, the 2026 AEC Employees Meeting reinforced the importance of moving beyond maintaining ministry operations toward actively advancing the mission of the church. The gathering provided employees with encouragement, information, and a renewed sense of shared purpose as they continue serving churches and communities throughout the Allegheny East Conference.
