AEC Middle School Students Enjoy Three Days of Outdoor School at North Bay

From Monday, September 29th, through Wednesday, September 30th, Allegheny East Conference Schools’ 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students came together at North Bay for their annual Outdoor School adventure. This three-day experience has become a cherished tradition, giving students the chance to learn, explore, and bond outside the walls of their classrooms.

Throughout the program, students participated in a wide range of activities that combined adventure with education. The zip line was a favorite, allowing many to conquer their fears and experience the thrill of flying through the treetops. Canoeing challenged students to work together as they navigated the waters, while guided hikes encouraged them to appreciate the beauty of nature and learn more about environmental stewardship. Rope courses and team-building exercises pushed students to collaborate, communicate, and support one another through exciting challenges.

Evenings brought their own special memories, as students reflected on the day’s activities, spent time with new friends, and strengthened connections within their school communities. Teachers and chaperones remarked on the noticeable growth in confidence, cooperation, and resilience that students displayed over the course of the retreat.

By the final day, students left North Bay with tired bodies but full hearts. They carried home not only the thrill of adventure but also the lessons of teamwork, leadership, and appreciation for God’s creation. Outdoor School continues to be one of the most meaningful experiences in the Allegheny East calendar, offering students a balance of learning, fun, and spiritual growth that lasts well beyond the trip itself.
