Baltimore Extended Area Hosts Joint Unity Day with Chesapeake Conference

On September 27th, the Allegheny East Conference and the Chesapeake Conference hosted a joint Unity Day Sabbath, bringing together hundreds from all over Baltimore and the surrounding areas. The theme for the day was “This is us: God’s People.” The God’s PlUnity Day activity gathered at the Kraushaar Auditorium at Goucher College (Baltimore, MD).
The day began with Sabbath School at 10 AM. Pastors from both conferences performed the preliminaries, and the lesson study was moderated by Pastor Boniface Getugi from Living Springs Fellowship Church (AEC). Then members from both conference participated in a panel discussion on “The Tabernacle.”
The worship service began with a processional from Pathfinders and Color Guards led by Renard Jones (Liberty Church). The welcome and church roll call were led by Dr. Philip Wesley (United in Christ-AEC) and Pastor Babawale Adepoju (Pikesville Church-Chesapeake). Additional greetings were offered by the respective Baltimore coordinators from each conference, Pastor Lee Kimani (AEC) and Pastor Elvis Mogoi (Chesapeake).
The joint praise team offered several musical selections, and special music was offered by Chayah Miranda. During the offering, the 3 schools within the territory were spotlighted. The offering collected was to be divided evenly among the schools.
The message was preached by Dr. Vandeon Griffin, the associate youth director for the North American Division. He shared a message from Luke 13 entitled, “A Messy Situation.” You may view the sermon, including the whole service, at the link below.
After lunch, the attendees gathered in the small auditorium for AYS to end the day.
