AEC Office of Education Equips School Leaders at Principals Institute
Allegheny East Conference’s Office of Education convened school leaders on July 7-9, 2026, from across the conference for its annual Principals Institute, a three-day professional development and leadership training event designed to prepare principals for the upcoming school year. Centered on the themes of spiritual leadership, educational excellence, compliance, and school growth, the institute provided practical strategies and collaborative learning opportunities to strengthen Adventist education throughout the conference.
The institute opened with a focus on "The Role of the Principal & Spiritual Leadership." Following a worship experience led by President Trevor Kinlock, participants explored the multifaceted responsibilities of school leadership during presentations by Dr. John Alberty, superintendent. The afternoon concluded with Dr. Patrick Graham's session on "Principal as Spiritual Leader," emphasizing that effective leadership begins with a vibrant relationship with Christ and a commitment to nurturing the spiritual culture of each school.
Day two shifted attention to leadership systems, compliance, and school improvement. Sessions addressed critical topics including leadership burnout, effective hiring practices, reducing institutional liability, curriculum planning and MAP data analysis, and the accreditation process. These presentations equipped principals with practical tools to strengthen school operations while maintaining high standards of accountability and academic excellence.
The final day focused on growth, leadership development, and school expansion. Through presentations by Dr. Alberty, President Trevor Kinlock, Pastor Daniel Hall, and Mr. Cliff Reynolds, attendees examined strategies for increasing enrollment, developing sustainable growth plans, and fostering mentorship among school leaders. The institute concluded with a question-and-answer session, allowing participants to reflect on key takeaways and discuss practical applications for their respective schools.
Throughout the three-day training, worship, professional instruction, and collaborative dialogue reinforced the conference's commitment to developing principals who lead with vision, integrity, and a passion for Adventist education. As participants return to their schools, they do so better equipped to cultivate environments where academic excellence, spiritual growth, and Christ-centered leadership flourish.
The Principals Institute serves as an important investment in the future of Allegheny East Conference schools, ensuring that leaders are prepared to inspire students, support faculty, and advance the mission of Adventist education in the year ahead.
