Breath of Life Hosts VBS “Egypt: Joseph’s Journey From Prison To Palace”

This summer, the children of Breath of Life SDA Church were transported back in time to ancient Egypt for a powerful and memorable Vacation Bible School experience. With the theme “Egypt: Joseph’s Journey from Prison to Palace,”; our young explorers and adults journeyed with Joseph through his heartbreaking trials, joyous victories, and tear-filled celebrations, all while witnessing God’s unwavering faithfulness.
Some of the rooms of our church were transformed into an Egyptian Prison and a royal Egyptian Palace. Children and volunteers alike were fully immersed, taking on the roles of Bible-times characters and discovering what life was like in Joseph’s world. Each day was packed with adventures, from acting out Bible stories to creating themed crafts and playing teamwork-building games.
Highlights from our week-long journey included:
Bible Story Time: The children followed Joseph’s incredible story, from interpreting dreams in prison to saving a nation from famine. Through these lessons, they learned that even in the toughest times, God gives us hope and has a purpose for every life.
Royal Dining: Before a day of exploring, everyone enjoyed delicious vegetarian meals.
Worship and Music: The kids sang catchy, faith-filled songs that reminded them of God’s steadfast promises, even in times of difficulty.
This VBS was not only an adventure but also a powerful opportunity for our children to build a deeper relationship with God. Some of the children were encouraged to look for “God Sightings”—evidence of His work in their everyday lives—just as Joseph saw God’s hand at work in his own journey.
The Inclusion of an Adult Vacation Bible School: This led to a significant number of parents staying for the program, with 36 attendees observed. There were 13 non-Adventist parents and 23 Adventist parents. This allowed for a deeper understanding of Biblical principles for adults, fostering individual spiritual growth and connections with other adults in the community. Overall, by engaging the parents, the program extended its reach beyond the children and had the potential to impact entire families, including those who may not regularly attend church, making VBS a powerful outreach tool.
A special thank you to all the dedicated volunteers, parents, and community members who helped make this year’s VBS a magnificent success. Your commitment to our children and your tireless work behind the scenes brought this story to life.
We are so grateful for all the new friendships made and for the spiritual seeds that were planted throughout the week. We look forward to seeing everyone again at our next community event!
