Delmar Community Service Federation Hosts Inspiring Afternoon of Hats and Teas
Millsboro, Delaware — The Delmar Community Service Federation brought women from across different communities together for an uplifting afternoon of fellowship, fashion, and inspiration during its inaugural Women’s Hat & Tea Fundraiser, held at the Henry C. Warrington Memorial Banquet Hall.
The event drew women from all walks of life, filling the room with vibrant colors, elegant hats, and a shared spirit of unity. Guests enjoyed beautifully decorated tables, warm conversation, and an atmosphere that celebrated grace, sisterhood, and community connection.
Centered on the theme “Crowned with Grace – Empowering Women of Valor,” the program featured three dynamic speakers whose messages encouraged spiritual growth, reflection, and empowerment.
Jazelle Griffin opened with a powerful reminder of the strength and compassion found in the Lord.
Pastor Annie Jane Custis delivered a heartfelt message on love, gratitude, and recognizing the abundance present in everyday life.
Pastor Janice Herman emphasized honoring God through purity, discipline, and mindful choices, encouraging women to protect their spiritual and physical well-being.
The afternoon also included a lively Parade of Hats, judged by Jerome Hitchens, who selected three winners from an impressive lineup of widebrimmed hats and fascinators. Photographer Abel Roblero captured the elegance and joy of the event.
Serving as Mistress of Ceremony, First Lady Terri Sturgis Mumford of Abundant Life Ministries, C.P.C., guided the program with grace and enthusiasm, keeping the afternoon flowing with warmth and purpose.
In addition to the inspiring messages, guests had the opportunity to connect with a local vendor and community organizations that contributed to the day’s experience. Special thanks go to Doris Hagans for sharing many name-brand pocketbooks at a special discounted price, Latoya Taylor, massage therapist, and Nancy Belcher with Breast Cancer of Delaware for sharing their services, products, and community support.
Guests enjoyed the delicious food, fellowship, and desserts prepared. Appreciation is also extended to Jeffery Hood and Jerome Hitchens, along with Janet Daniels, Donna Polk, Cheryl Pritchett, Stephanie Smith, and Candi Gibbs, who tirelessly gave their time and effort where needed.
We thank the Committee, which consisted of Jazmin Salaberrios, whose brilliant ideas and design skills made our flyer and program bulletin truly stand out; Joann Griffin; Sharon Johnson; Crystal Jones; Mildred Polk; and our behind-the-scenes person, Juanita Hitchens.
