First NAD Master Guide Camporee Unites Leaders from Around the World
The North American Division (NAD) hosted its inaugural Master Guide Camporee in the scenic mountains of West Virginia, drawing leaders from across the United States and beyond. Delegates traveled great distances to attend, including an international contingent from as far as Malaysia.
Throughout the event, participants engaged in a vibrant mix of spiritual growth, leadership training, and global fellowship. Each morning began with dynamic worship, setting an inspiring tone for the day. Attendees were also challenged by keynote speaker Pr. Myron Edmonds, who used “haystacks” as a metaphor for leadership—emphasizing the unique blend of skills, personalities, and callings that make great leaders effective.
Camporee activities included a showcase of video clips featuring Master Guides from around the world, offering a glimpse into the shared mission and diverse cultural expressions of leadership within the movement. The weekend concluded with a colorful international parade, where flags, attire, and smiles reflected the unity of purpose that brought everyone together.
Service was a defining feature of the camporee, as participants engaged in a REBUILD project with Adventist Community Services under the leadership of W. Derrick Lea. Master Guides earned certification while gaining hands-on experience in building from the ground up, making a tangible impact on the community. The event fostered stronger connections, enhanced leadership skills, and renewed a collective commitment to service.
The first NAD Master Guide Camporee was not only a celebration of leadership, but also a reminder that the Master Guide ministry is a global family—united in service, committed to mission, and ready to inspire the next generatio
