Genesis Church Equips Community with Tools for Entrepreneurial Success
Aspiring entrepreneurs from the Plainfield community gathered on Sunday, July 27, 2025, for a transformative seminar aimed at helping individuals turn their talents into thriving, legacy-building businesses. Hosted by the Men's Ministry Department of the Genesis Seventh-day Adventist Church and spearheaded by ministry leader Devon Simon, the event—"Launch Your Business, Build Your Legacy"—offered inspiration and practical tools for business success.
Held at the Genesis SDA Church, the two-and-a-half-hour Masterclass featured dynamic presentations from Yoluando Brown, a seasoned marketing strategist, and Natasha Rawlins, a certified business coach. The presenters guided attendees through a comprehensive roadmap designed to help them launch and sustain their ventures with minimal startup costs and maximum clarity.
Each participant received a "launch pad"—a curated resource kit packed with low-cost tools, strategies, and practical tips to support innovative, stress-free business development. The event provided a clear blueprint for success, from identifying personal strengths and talents to establishing solid business foundations.
"Other communities have long prioritized sharing this knowledge," said Simon. "They've historically been ahead of us when leaving generational wealth. I felt compelled to ensure our community had access to the same vital information."
One of the standout concepts introduced was the idea of a legacy business—a venture built to last well beyond the lifetime of its founder. "A legacy business," explained Brown, "isn't just about generating income. It's about building something sustainable that will continue to impact lives even after you're gone." She contrasted this with typical small businesses, which often cease to exist when the owner stops working.
The Masterclass covered topics ranging from mindset, resilience, and spiritual grounding to business structure, marketing strategies, and financial planning. Attendees engaged in lively discussions and received personalized feedback from the speakers on new business ideas and existing ventures.
The seminar concluded with networking and light refreshments, allowing participants to continue connecting and exchanging ideas. The event was warmly received by attendees, who expressed gratitude for the actionable insights and sense of empowerment they walked away with.
In a city where economic opportunity and generational wealth-building are pressing concerns, the "Launch Your Business, Build Your Legacy" seminar offered practical instruction, hope, and a challenge to build businesses that will stand the test of time.
