Journey to Freedom: Celebrating Our Legacy

The first two weeks of Black History Month at Grace Tabernacle have been nothing short of exhilarating! We celebrate Black history like none other—honoring not only the victories, but also acknowledging the deep struggles endured across the African diaspora.

This year, our theme, Journey to Freedom: Celebrating Our Legacy, has highlighted the experience of African Americans in the United States and the parallel trials faced by our brothers and sisters in Jamaica. We have reflected on faith, resilience, culture, and the unbreakable spirit that has carried our people through generations.

As we move into the next two weeks, our focus will shift to celebrating the rich heritage and enduring strength of our brothers and sisters from Trinidad and Tobago and Kenya. We are excited to continue this powerful journey of remembrance, education, and celebration.

This past weekend was especially meaningful as the president of the Allegheny East Conference, Trevor Kinlock, graciously joined us as our guest speaker. We are deeply thankful for Dr. Kinlock’s participation and the powerful message he shared. His presence added a special blessing to our celebration, and we eagerly anticipate what the remainder of this month will bring.

Additionally, during our service we took time to honor a pillar of the Norristown community. This weekend, we recognized Hughton Kelsey, a retired Pennsylvania State Trooper whose service and impact have left a lasting legacy. We celebrate his dedication and the example he has set for generations to come.

Grace Tabernacle continues to stand as a place where history is remembered, heritage is honored, and faith leads the way forward.
