New Life Church Hosts Community Festival and Health Fair
New Life Seventh-day Adventist Church in Gaithersburg, Md., welcomed the community on Sunday, August 23, for its annual Community Festival & Health Fair, centered on the theme, “Better Together: Healthy Start, Bright Future.”
The three-hour event brought together families for an afternoon focused on health, service, fellowship, and back-to-school preparation. Held across the church campus, the festival offered free resources and activities made possible through donated funds from the congregation and the efforts of dedicated volunteers.
Families received fresh produce and school supplies for students in grades K–12, while attendees also had access to health screenings, massage and stretch therapy, fitness demonstrations, personal prayer, and other wellness services. Children and families enjoyed face painting, a bounce house, karaoke, games, food, and other activities designed to make preparing for the new school year a fun experience.
The festival also provided opportunities for personal care and community connection. Free haircuts, hair braiding, manicures, and other services were offered, while local Montgomery County vendors and community organizations participated throughout the afternoon. A New Life booth featured a selfie station and raffle, adding another element of fun and engagement.
A number of community partners contributed their time and expertise, including All-In-One Fitness, Continuum Healthcare Network, DMV Wellness, Walgreens, United Healthcare, and the Montgomery County Board of Elections. Local small-business owners and beauty professionals also provided services and participated in the event.
Beyond meeting practical needs, the Community Festival & Health Fair reflected New Life’s desire to strengthen its relationship with the surrounding community. The church’s goal was to provide families with tangible support while helping children feel confident and prepared as they returned to school.
Through health resources, school supplies, personal care, prayer, food, and family-friendly activities, New Life SDA Church demonstrated that when a community works together, it can create a healthier and brighter future for everyone.
