Rehoboth’s Compassion Week Results in 50 Baptisms
By the grace of God, Compassion Ministry Week, held from June 15–21, 2026, was a tremendous blessing to our Rehoboth church (Reading, Pa) and the surrounding community. Through acts of compassion, prayer, Bible-based preaching, and community outreach, the Lord moved in a powerful way.
As a result of this evangelistic outreach, 50 individuals accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior through baptism and professions of faith. We praise God for this wonderful harvest and recognize that every decision represents a life transformed by His grace.
Celebrating New Believers
Each evening during Compassion Ministry Week, we hosted a special celebration in the church’s VIP Room, where Pastor Rabiel Torres and members of the Rehoboth Seventh-day Adventist Church warmly welcomed our new believers. These fellowship gatherings provided an opportunity to build relationships, celebrate their decisions for Christ, answer questions, and help them feel like part of the church family from the very beginning.
On Father’s Day (June 21, 2026), our church also hosted a community cookout to honor our new members and provide additional opportunities for fellowship with the congregation. The event strengthened relationships between church members and our newly baptized members and guests in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It was especially encouraging to see many of our new members immediately become involved in ministry. Several volunteered during our church food pantry distribution, demonstrating a desire to serve others and live out Christ’s example of compassionate ministry.
Retention and Discipleship
Recognizing that evangelism does not end with baptism, Rehoboth SDA Church immediately implemented a comprehensive retention and discipleship plan.
Pastoral Follow-Up
Every newly baptized member and every individual who made a profession of faith was personally visited by Pastor Rabiel Torres the day following their baptism or profession of faith. These visits included prayer, encouragement, and spiritual guidance as each new believer began their walk with Christ.
Weekly Bible Studies
We established a New Believers Bible Study every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. These studies are helping our new members develop a strong biblical foundation, grow in their relationship with Jesus, and become grounded in the teachings of Scripture.
Mentorship Program
Rehoboth SDA Church also launched a Mentorship Program, pairing experienced church members with new believers. Through regular contact, prayer, fellowship, and encouragement, mentors are helping new members become fully integrated into the life and mission of the church.
Continuing Nurture
Pastor Rabiel Torres, together with church elders and members, will continue nurturing these new believers through regular phone calls, home visits, Bible studies, prayer, fellowship, and ongoing spiritual encouragement. Our goal is not simply to celebrate decisions for Christ but to make faithful disciples who will continue growing in their relationship with Jesus and actively participate in His mission.
Conclusion
We give all glory and honor to God for the success of Compassion Ministry Week (June 15–21, 2026). We are grateful for every volunteer, ministry leader, and church member whose dedication helped make this outreach a success.
The commitment of Rehoboth Seventh-day Adventist Church extends beyond the evangelistic meetings. We remain dedicated to loving, discipling, and equipping these new believers so they will become strong disciples of Jesus Christ and faithful workers in His kingdom as we prepare together for His soon return.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” — Matthew 28:19–20
