Salem Partners with Rutgers University for Community Health Fair
Salem Haitian Seventh-day Adventist Church is giving thanks following a successful Community Health Fair held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the church’s East Orange campus.
The health fair was part of Salem’s Day of Worship & Wellness, an initiative designed to combine faith, education, and practical service to the surrounding community. Throughout the afternoon, many individuals and families from East Orange and neighboring North Jersey communities came through the doors to receive free health information, speak directly with professionals, ask questions, and connect with services and resources.
For Salem, the strong community turnout was especially meaningful.
Residents were able to visit health booths covering areas such as primary care, dental health, nutrition and diabetes education, smoking and vaping awareness, mental health, and health insurance assistance. The goal was to make valuable health information and professional guidance easier to access in a welcoming and supportive environment.
The event was led by Salem’s Health Ministry under the direction of Sister Lamercie Brasier, DNP, MSN, AGNP-BC, with the support of volunteers and health professionals who helped make the afternoon possible.
Salem also extends its sincere appreciation to Rutgers University for partnering with the church and supporting the Community Health Fair. Their participation helped expand the resources and professional services available to those who attended and strengthened the church’s ability to serve the community in a meaningful way.
More than the number of people who attended, the success of the event could be seen in the conversations that took place, the questions that were answered, and the individuals who were connected with information and services that may help them make better decisions about their health.
The Community Health Fair reflected Salem’s ongoing commitment to ministry beyond the walls of the church. By addressing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being, the Health Ministry seeks to demonstrate the love of Christ through practical service and genuine care for its neighbors.
Salem Haitian Seventh-day Adventist Church thanks everyone who attended, every volunteer and professional who gave their time, and Rutgers University for helping make the event possible.
Above all, we praise and thank God for allowing Salem to serve its community and for blessing the day with such a meaningful response.
The church looks forward to continuing to create opportunities that bring faith, health, resources, and community together while meeting people where they are and serving the needs of East Orange and the greater North Jersey community.
