Salem’s 1986 Crew Celebrates 40 Years by Giving Back

Sponsored by the Education Ministry of Salem, the special Salem 1986 40’s Crew Scholarship Award was created to celebrate an important milestone while investing in the next generation of Salem youth.

The Salem 1986 Crew is made up of individuals who were born in 1986 and grew up together at Salem. They shared childhood memories, friendships, worship experiences, and many of the formative moments that helped shape who they would become.

Now, 40 years later, their lives have taken them into different careers, families, and communities, but they have never forgotten where they came from. Salem remains part of their shared story.

The members of the Salem 1986 Crew, listed alphabetically, are:

As the members of the 1986 Crew celebrate turning 40, they wanted the occasion to be about more than themselves. Working through the Education Ministry of Salem, they chose to honor the church community that helped raise them by establishing this special one-time scholarship for Salem youth.

The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate academic excellence, active participation in the church, good moral character, and community service. Eligible students were required to graduate from high school in 2026, maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, and remain active members of Salem.

We are proud to celebrate the recipients of this special award:

1st Place: Sasheen-Chloe Previlon
2nd Place: Isaiah Romain

As the first-place recipient, Sasheen-Chloe Previlon received a $1,300 scholarship award in recognition of her achievement.

But the heart of this scholarship goes beyond the financial award.

For the 1986 Crew, this was an opportunity to say thank you to the church that played such an important role in their lives and to show today’s young people what it means to remember the community that helped you along the way.

Their story is a beautiful example of how one generation can pour into another.

The children who once grew up together at Salem are now adults with careers, families, responsibilities, and accomplishments of their own. Yet they have chosen to look back, remember those who invested in them, and reach forward to invest in someone else.

Their message to Salem’s young people says it best:

“Grow up, be great, come back, give back!”

To Sasheen-Chloe and Isaiah, congratulations on this well-deserved recognition. Continue pursuing excellence, remain grounded in your faith, use the gifts God has given you, and always remember the community that stands behind you.

And to the Salem 1986 Crew, thank you for choosing to celebrate 40 years by creating an opportunity for the next generation.

Forty years later, the children Salem helped raise are now helping raise up the next generation. That is how legacy continues.
