Walnut Street/Pine Forge Churches Shine the Light of Jesus in Pottstown

For many years, the Children’s Ministry Department of Walnut Street Community Seventh-day Adventist Church has been passionate about sharing the love of Christ with the children of Pottstown. The church has hosted Vacation Bible School (VBS) for many years, continuing its commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for children in the community to learn about Jesus.

This year marked the second VBS held since the COVID-19 pandemic and the second year that Walnut Street Community partnered with the Children’s Ministry team of Pine Forge Academy Church to present the program.

Under the theme “Illumination Station: Shining a Light on Who Jesus Really Is,” the week focused on Jesus as the Light of the World. Each evening, the children participated in a variety of activities designed to make biblical lessons engaging and memorable. Their evenings included worship and songs in the sanctuary, outdoor games and crafts, a meal together, and Bible stories that reinforced the message of the day.

Throughout the week, the ministry team emphasized a simple but powerful truth: Jesus is our light, and as His followers, we are called to shine His light in a dark world.

The impact of the program was especially evident on the fourth night, when more than 50 children gathered to learn about the death and resurrection of Jesus. Through stories, activities, and fellowship, the children were given an opportunity to hear the gospel and deepen their understanding of God’s love.

The ministry’s commitment to children extends well beyond Vacation Bible School. This October, the team will celebrate 20 years of Children’s Story Hour, a monthly outreach program designed to introduce children in the community to the Bible through stories, crafts, songs, and games. For two decades, this ministry has created a welcoming environment where children can learn about God and develop a personal love for Him.

As Walnut Street Community and Pine Forge Academy Church continue investing in the next generation, the ministry team invites the church family to pray for the children they serve, the families they reach, and the volunteers, including students from Pine Forge Academy, who faithfully give their time and talents.

The prayer remains simple: that every child who walks through their doors will come to know the Light of the World—Jesus—and learn to shine His light wherever they go.
