“Yee-Haw!” Horeb Haitian Church Welcomes More Than 80 Participants to Cactusville VBS
SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND—The joyful cry of “Yee-haw!” filled Briggs Chaney Middle School as Horeb Haitian Seventh-day Adventist Church presented its 2026 Vacation Bible School, “Cactusville Adventure,” July 19–25.
The Western-themed program transformed the school into a colorful Bible frontier with cowboy outfits, cactus decorations, music, games, crafts, recreation, and Christ-centered lessons. Led by Children’s Ministries leader Erlande Fevry Pierresaint and a dedicated team of instructors, parents, youth leaders, and volunteers, the program welcomed more than 80 children and adults, including 12 children from non-Adventist families.
Throughout the week, children enjoyed interactive Bible stories, songs, object lessons, sports, team-building activities, and special entertainment. A friendly dog also visited, adding extra excitement to the Cactusville experience.
On Sabbath, July 25, the children led the worship service at Horeb Haitian SDA Church in College Park. Dressed as cowboys and cowgirls, they marched, sang, prayed, and shared what they had learned. Abygaelle J. Antoine delivered an inspiring sermon that encouraged both children and adults.
The celebration continued on Sunday, July 26, when 124 children, parents, volunteers, and church leaders gathered at a Virginia water park for a day of fun, fellowship, and relaxation.
“This was one of our best Vacation Bible School programs,” said Pastor Dr. Brian Ladiny, senior pastor of Horeb. “The children were excited, the volunteers were committed, and our community guests felt welcomed. We praise God for what He accomplished through our Children’s Ministries Department.”
Horeb Haitian SDA Church thanks Erlande Fevry Pierresaint, the Children’s Ministries team; parent-volunteers who served as instructors and food-service workers; and community families for making Cactusville VBS a success.
Through every lesson, song, game, and cheerful “Yee-haw,” one message remained clear: Following Jesus is the greatest adventure of all!
