Emmanuel-Brinklow Host Free Medical Clinic
On October 17 and 18, Emmanuel-Brinklow Church hosted a free medical clinic at the Takoma Academy campus at 8300 Carroll Ave. Brinklow worked alongside Remote Area Medical (RAM®) Volunteer Corps as they brought free, quality healthcare to people who need it. Over the two-day weekend, the clinic offered three kinds of care, all at no cost:
Dental: cleanings, fillings, extractions, and dental X-rays
Vision: complete eye exams, eye health evaluations, and prescription glasses made on-site.
Medical: physical exams, prescription consultations, women’s health services, general exams, and more
Brinklow members also assisted with greeting and checking in patients, directing parking, serving meals, and praying with attendees.
The clinic ran on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity was reached. No ID was required, so anyone seeking care could walk in without paperwork or insurance concerns. The parking lot opened Friday night at 11:59 p.m. to let early arrivals line up, and the clinic opened its doors at 6 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
