Tea, Conversation, and Prayer at the Bay Area Women’s Ministries Quarterly Meeting
Picture a cozy barn, tables set for tea, and women from across Delaware and Maryland gathering for an afternoon of fellowship, prayer, and unity. That was the scene at the Bay Area Women’s Ministries Quarterly Meeting, hosted by the Women’s Ministry Department of Mt. Zion Miracle Station SDA Church of Wilmington, DE at the Blue Ball Barn.
The Bay Area for Women’s Ministries purposes encompasses: Angaza Sharon (Newark, DE), New Life (Salisbury, MD), Faith (Cambridge, MD), First Millsboro (Millsboro, DE), Mt. Carmel (Harrington, DE), Bethuel (Dover, DE), Mt. Zion Miracle Station (Wilmington, DE), Voice of Truth (Newark, DE), and Sharon Temple (Wilmington, DE).
The afternoon centered on a Tea Party, with a twist. The cucumber sandwiches stayed home, and in their place came franks in a blanket, spicy and original nuggets, mini Impossible burgers, and fresh salads and dips. The dessert table featured vegan cookies, cupcakes, lemon cream pie, and cheesecake.
The conversation was just as nourishing as the food. The icebreaker, “Who Told You About...?”, invited women from all walks of life to share who shaped their views on being a woman, God, finances, generosity, life, survival, family, work, and education. Again and again, the stories led back to mothers and grandmothers. The room celebrated the generations gathered there with gifts for the youngest attendee (25) and the oldest (94), along with a few others.
Dr. Marleena Debrough then closed the program with a message encouraging the women to become women of strength and to build a stronger support system for one another.
By the end of the afternoon, everyone left full in body and spirit, with a reminder to pray for their sisters. And for anyone looking for a conversation starter, the question from the day works anywhere: “Who told you about...?” Just ask, and see where it leads.
